II World Congress of OMT DTI, Oviedo (Asturias, Spain) on 25/27 June 2018
The World Tourism Organization together with the Government of the Kingdom of Spain and the Government of the Principality of Asturias organize the II World Congress of Smart Tourist Destinations, which will be held in Oviedo (Asturias, Spain) from June 25 to 27, 2018.
In order to lead and shape new tourist models for the 21st century based on innovation, technology, sustainability, governance and accessibility, the World Congress of Smart Tourist Destinations is the annual meeting of international tourism experts, where opportunities and challenges are discussed for the tourism sector and destinations in particular, which arise from the development, implementation and management of innovative products and services based on new technological solutions.
Therefore, the UNWTOs brings together public administrations, business sector, researchers and academics, technological centers, civil society and local agents and universities around the world, to analyze and build among all the tourist model of the 21st century, as well as to share knowledge, form alliances and advance in the understanding of the key elements of intelligent tourist destinations.
After the first Congress, the 2018 edition will discuss, among other issues, the digital transformation within the destinations, the technological solutions to measure the impact of tourism, governance on intelligent tourist destinations, the importance of new technologies in sustainable development, as well as the role of open platforms and data management to improve the competitiveness of tourist destinations.
